Checking Investment Incentive Eligibility

Treat incentives as conditional provisions that require current documentary review.

Step 01

Identify the applicable instrument

Promotion material can identify a topic to investigate; it does not establish legal eligibility.

  • Record the instrument number, issue date and amendments.
  • Check activity, location, project dates and approval conditions.
  • Separate tax, VAT, customs and foreign-exchange provisions.
Step 02

Model a verified case and a base case

Keep an incentive-dependent forecast distinct from ordinary project economics.

  • Obtain a qualified current eligibility assessment.
  • Document application steps and continuing conditions.
  • Model the project without unconfirmed relief.

A common question.

Can an old incentive table be used for a new project?

No. Confirm the operative instruments, amendments and project conditions first.

Foreign ownership in Bangladesh

Build a business you can fully own.

100% foreign ownership
Available in eligible sectors

100% foreign ownership is permitted in most sectors in Bangladesh. An eligible business can establish a wholly foreign-owned company without a local equity partner.

Eligibility depends on the business activity. Reserved or restricted activities, sector-specific ownership rules, licences and regulatory approvals must be checked before incorporation or investment.

Do I need a local shareholder?

For an activity eligible for wholly foreign-owned incorporation, a local equity partner is not generally required. The proposed activities and applicable sector rules must be reviewed first. Ownership eligibility does not replace company registration, operating licences or other required approvals.
